Shop Lancaster, KY (“we,” “us,” “our”) operates shoplancasterky.com, a local classifieds site serving Lancaster and Garrard County, Kentucky. This page explains what information we collect when you use the site, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Account registration
If you create an account to post or manage listings, we collect the username, email address, and password you provide. We use your email to send you account notifications (such as messages about your listings) and, if you choose, new-listing alerts.
Listings you post
When you post an ad, we collect the information you enter into the listing form — item description, price, condition, payment options, location, photos, and any contact details you choose to include. Listings are public and visible to anyone who visits the site. Please avoid including sensitive personal information (such as your full home address or financial account numbers) directly in a listing.
Contact Us and messages
If you contact us through the Contact Us form, or send a message to a seller through a listing, we collect your name, email address, and the content of your message so we (or the seller) can respond.
Email alerts
If you sign up for new-listing email alerts, we store your email address and your daily/weekly preference. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link included in every alert email.
Site usage and analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site (pages viewed, general location and device type, and similar traffic patterns) so we can improve it. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects data in an aggregated, non-identifying way. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
The site also uses a small number of technical cookies required for basic functionality, such as keeping you logged in and remembering your login preferences.
How we use your information
- To operate the site and display your listings
- To send account-related emails, such as messages about your listings or password resets
- To send new-listing alert emails, if you’ve opted in
- To respond to messages you send through Contact Us
- To detect and prevent spam and abuse (for example, automated checks on form submissions)
- To understand overall site traffic and improve the site
We do not sell your personal information.
Who we share information with
We share information only as needed to run the site:
- With Google, for site analytics (Google Analytics) and to deliver outgoing email (Google Workspace)
- With another user, when you send them a message through a listing, or when you post a listing that includes your own contact information
- If required by law, or to protect the safety of our users or the public
How long we keep information
Listings are removed automatically after their posting period ends (30 days for registered users, 7 days for guest posts) unless you renew them. Account information is kept for as long as your account is active. Contact Us messages and email alert signups are kept only as long as needed to respond to you or provide the service, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
Your choices and rights
- You can view, edit, or delete your account and listings at any time by logging in and visiting “Manage My Ads.”
- You can unsubscribe from email alerts using the link in any alert email.
- You can ask us to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you by reaching out through our Contact Us page.
